Born in 1978 in Denmark, he graduated as an organist and pianist in 2002 (advanced performance class in 2004) and as a composer in 2007 from the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, where his teachers included Karl Aage Rasmussen, Bent Sørensen, Rolf Wallin, and Hans Abrahamsen. He continued his studies in Stuttgart.
He has written music for many different instrumental constellations, and is constantly exploring new ways of instrumental idiomas. He is inspired by the strictness of conceptual art, and the exploration of sound and gesture. His music unites complex polymetrical textures with minimal microrepetition in a language that incorporates expressions of mechanical action, deconstruction, manipulated historical references among other things.
He has received commissions and was given first performances by professional musicians and ensembles including Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen, Ensemble Ernst, Plus Minus Ensemble, Lydenska, Jutlandia Saxophone Quartet, Ainhoa Miranda, Frederik Munk-Larsen, and others. His works have been featured at festivals including Klang, Nordic Music Days, Ultima, and UNM. His awards include the Holmboe Composition Competition (2006), Little Mermaid Prize (2004), and was a finalist at the Haarlem International Improvisation Competition (2014).
He has taught music theory at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus since 2008. His compositional work has been supported by the Danish Arts Council since 2007.
