Karski, Dominik

Born in 1972 in Szczebrzeszyn, Poland, he is a Polish-Australian composer living in Perth, Australia. In his writing, he focuses mainly on chamber works for small numbers of instruments, as he creates his music through close collaborations with distinct performers - experts in new music. the fundamental objective in his work is an in-depth exploration of the physicality of producing sound, where the instrument-player relationship is the primary source of the musical substance. Soloists and ensembles who have commissioned and performed Karski's works include American autist Carlton Vickers, Polish duo Flute HO'Clock, Swedish violinist Karin Hellqvist, Gośka Isphording's ensemble the Roentgen Connection, and Swedish contrabass Paetzold recorder soloist Anna Petrini, among many others. His music has been receiving international exposure through performances at leading festivals such as Warsaw Autumn, Huddersfield, and Gaudeamus Music Week in Amsterdam. His works have been released on CDs in Australia, Canada, Austria, Britain, Sweden, and Poland. Of particular importance is the composer's monographic album with his flute works recorded by Flute O'Clock and released by Bôłt Records in Poland in 2016.
